Contact with the International Space Station and Doctor Robert Thirsk on October 14,2009
We at the Calgary Space Workers (CSW) have enjoyed our involvment with the "Amateur Radio on the International Space Station" (ARRIS). We were proud to have supplied the equipment and assisted in the setup with these brilliant amateur radio enthusiasts.

The next contact is for the students of the Glenmore Christian Academy (16520 - 24th Street S.W.). This is the school that Doctor Robert Thirsk went to as a child.
Hi Team,
Okay - after talking with Brian Jackson, VE6JBJ, we need to arrive
sooner than I first anticipated.
The school will be open at 6:30 AM. Bev Thirsk is doing a presentation
that will start at 9:00 AM sharp. In this regard we need to be settled
in with all equipment in place and working. We should also try
tracking the previous ISS pass (the one before our contact at 10:01
AM), which is approximately at 8:30 AM.
The bottom line - we ALL need to arrive by 6:45 AM or at the very
latest - 7:00 AM.
I will be leaving my place (Harvest Hills) at 6:00 AM. This should put
me at the school by 6:50 AM - given there are no major tie ups on
Deerfoot Trail. FYI - Deerfoot is already humming at 6:00 AM.

Hi Folks,
I took a 'snap shot' (attached) of what appears to be an earlier time
for our pass than what was slated for our scheduled contact on Oct.
14, 2009.
Our contact time is slated for 10:01:09 local time.
The predictions, with the latest keps, appear to be 9:58:16 local
time. I get this with Nova, Ham Radio Deluxe and the latest piece of
software I found called WX Tracker. I really like this one - very neat!
Anyway - just thought I would mention this for those counting, like me.
See you all EARLY (6:45 to 7:00 AM) tomorrow!! Leave earlier for road
conditions.
